Community Standards
At FTF Motors, we believe buying and selling a used vehicle should be straightforward, honest, and fair for everyone. These standards exist to protect both sides of every transaction.
💰 Transparent Pricing
Every listing on FTF Motors must display a clear, honest price. Sellers have two options:
- Fixed Price — The price is firm. What’s listed is what the seller expects. No lowball offers, no back-and-forth.
- Open to Offers — The seller is willing to negotiate. Buyers can reach out and start a conversation.
This system eliminates lowball culture and wasted time. When a seller says Fixed Price, buyers respect it. When a seller says Open to Offers, both sides know negotiation is welcome.
📸 Photo Standards
All listings are required to include a complete photo set so buyers know exactly what they’re looking at. Required photos include:
- Front of vehicle
- Rear of vehicle
- Driver’s side and passenger’s side
- Interior (front and rear seats)
- Dashboard and center console
- Odometer reading
- Engine bay
- Any damage, scratches, or imperfections
What you see is what you get. Listings that misrepresent a vehicle’s condition violate our standards and will be removed.
🔍 VIN Number Required
Every vehicle listed on FTF Motors must include its VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). This gives buyers the ability to independently run a vehicle history report — checking for accidents, title issues, odometer discrepancies, and more — before ever reaching out to the seller.
A VIN requirement is one of the most important tools we have for protecting buyers. If a seller won’t provide a VIN, that’s a red flag — and we won’t allow it on our platform.
🤝 Fair to Both Sides
FTF Motors is not a dealership. We don’t buy, sell, or own any vehicle on this platform. We are a community — a neutral space where private buyers and sellers can connect directly, without the markup, the pressure, or the games that come with traditional car buying.
Our standards exist to protect both sides equally. Sellers deserve buyers who engage in good faith. Buyers deserve complete information upfront. We hold everyone on our platform to the same standard — because that’s the only way a community like this actually works.
Violations of these standards — including misrepresented photos, withheld VINs, or dishonest pricing — may result in listing removal or account suspension. We take the integrity of this community seriously, and we ask every member to do the same.
🛡️ Safety & Privacy
Buying and selling in person comes with real-world risk that no website can remove. A few practices that protect both buyers and sellers:
- Never share your home address. Meet in a public, well-lit location — a busy parking lot, bank, or police station lobby (many departments allow this for vehicle transactions) are common safe choices.
- Avoid showing your address in listing photos. Double-check photo backgrounds for visible house numbers, mail, or street signs before posting.
- Bring a friend, and meet during daylight hours when possible.
- Verify funds before handing over a vehicle, and verify the vehicle and paperwork before handing over money. Cash or verified bank transfers are safer than personal checks.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off about a buyer or seller, you’re free to walk away from any deal at any time.
FTF Motors connects buyers and sellers — we are not present at, and have no control over, any in-person meeting or transaction. All interactions and transactions conducted through FTF Motors are at your own risk. We strongly encourage caution, common sense, and the practices above with every transaction.
⏱️ LISTING DURATION POLICY
To keep FTF Motors fresh and accurate, all vehicle listings are active for 60 days. Here’s how it works:
- Active for 60 days — your listing is live and visible to all buyers.
- 30-day renewal window — once expired, you have 30 days to renew before it’s permanently removed.
- Mark as Sold — sold your car? Hit the “Mark as Sold” button in your dashboard. Your listing stays visible with a Sold badge so the community knows it moved — then delete it whenever you’re ready.
This policy exists to protect buyers from chasing listings that are already gone, and to keep our marketplace honest and current.
🚩 COMMUNITY FLAGGING
FTF Motors is a community built on trust. Every listing page includes a “Report Abuse” button — use it if you see anything suspicious, fraudulent, or that violates our standards. Common reasons to flag a listing:
- Photos don’t match the vehicle description
- Price seems unrealistically low (common scam signal)
- Seller is requesting payment outside of normal means (wire transfer, gift cards, crypto)
- VIN doesn’t match the vehicle
- Listing appears to be a duplicate or fake
Every flagged listing is reviewed by FTF Motors. We take community reports seriously — your vigilance protects everyone here.
🔧 PROJECT VEHICLES
Project Vehicles have their own dedicated section on FTF Motors — separate from the main Browse listings so buyers looking for turn-key vehicles have a clean, focused experience.
What counts as a Project Vehicle? Barn finds, restorations in progress, non-runners, parts cars, and anything that needs significant work before it’s road-ready. If it’s not currently in daily-driver condition, list it here.
Relaxed photo standards for Project Vehicles: We know these cars don’t always sit in clean garages under perfect lighting. They’re in fields, barns, backyards, and storage units. We get it. Clear, honest photos are still required — but we understand the conditions aren’t always ideal. What we care about most:
- Show the actual condition — don’t hide damage or rust
- Include as many angles as you can manage
- If it runs, show it running. If it doesn’t, say so clearly.
- Be honest about what’s missing, broken, or needs work
Listings that misrepresent a project vehicle’s condition will be removed. The community depends on honesty — especially here, where buyers are taking a leap of faith.
